DESCRIPTION: Colonial Williamsburg's emulation of resist dyeing that was used in early America by the colonist to create patterned textiles. The most common technique used was applying liquid wax, via stamps, stencils or free-hand designs, directly to the fabric to "resist" dyes. Shalimar emulates an elaborate floral design. The fabric color registration shows dark and light peridot on a white background color. The fabric has been treated to resist stains and soil.
